Making Connections Lecture Series – “Mirror on the Veil: A Collection of Personal Essays on Hijab and Veiling”
May 23, 2017 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Saadia Faruqi, a local author and interfaith activist, has written one of the entries in the just released book entitled “Mirror on the Veil: a Collection of Personal Essays on Hijab and Veiling”. She and Dr. Nausheen Pasha-Zaidi of the University of Houston, one of the co-editors of the book, will be taking part in the next “Making Connections” lecture. Click here for the Facebook Event page.
They will discuss the various conversations that people are having with regards to the timely topic of hijab and veiling in contemporary societies around the globe. Why do women wear a hijab? Is it a religious requirement? A cultural tradition? A personal choice? Or something else?
Copies of the book will be available for purchase, or it can be purchased in advance from Amazon and signed by the authors. The event is free, open to all, and requires no reservations.
