With thanks to Energy Transfer for making this year’s Holiday Project possible.
Holiday gifts and winter meals
Spread holiday cheer where it is needed most
Winter’s chill can bring more than cold weather. It can also leave homebound seniors isolated and without access to essential meals.
This holiday season, you can make a difference by sponsoring holiday gifts and shelf-stable winter meals for Meals on Wheels recipients. These gifts may be the only ones our seniors receive. And if icy roads make deliveries impossible, the emergency meals ensure that seniors will not go hungry.
Assemble a holiday gift bag
A volunteer activity for the whole family
You can help make the holidays extra special for seniors served by Meals on Wheels in Greater Houston and Galveston County. To schedule drop-off of completed, fully assembled gift bags, email thanksgiving@imgh.org. Drop-off dates change each year, so please ask for the current date. Staff members deliver the bags to our seniors along with their regular meals.
We suggest closing each bag with a tied ribbon, which keeps the gift intact in transit. To help us get the items to every senior as smoothly as possible, please include only the items and sizes listed here. We want every senior on our routes to receive something special, and our delivery vehicles cannot hold quite as much as Santa’s sleigh.
Reusable gift bag
Paper bags can tear and lose their handles during distribution. Make a reusable bag part of your gift. It protects everything inside, and it is one more gift for our seniors to keep using.

Blanket drive
Cozy up with kindness
We serve meals to homebound seniors across Greater Houston and Galveston County, and we aim to give them more than nourishment: care and companionship. Through our blanket drive, we bring warmth and comfort to seniors, one blanket at a time.
This effort reinforces our mission to be more than a meal and to show our seniors they are valued and remembered. Drop-off sites are in Midtown and La Marque. Call 713-533-4900 for current locations and hours.
