“My name is Charles. I’ve been receiving Meals on Wheels for about three years.”

Before needing Meals on Wheels, Charles worked hard his whole life. “I’ve been doing everything from concrete to plumbing, from digging ditches to cleaning out trash cans. You name it, I’ve done it.”

Now, health challenges make it harder for him to cook the way he once did. “I have good days and bad days that I can’t get around in the kitchen and do things I need to do or want to do. It’s easy for me to put it in a microwave instead of messing with that oven… I can fix it in two or three minutes, sit down, eat, relax, and just be content.”

Charles especially appreciates the fresh produce included with his meals. “My favorite thing about receiving Meals on Wheels is the produce in the boxes… and it helps a lot. And I hope other folks can get them too… because they really do help. It gets me through.”
