Pastor Harvey Clemons, Interfaith Ministries, and other faith and community leaders announce a weekly moment of prayer and reflection on Mondays through June 1, from Noon – 12:05 p.m.
HOUSTON (April 6, 2020) – Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, Pastor Harvey Clemons from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and other faith leaders are announcing Mindful Monday: A Moment of Prayer and Reflection. Mindful Monday: A Moment of Prayer and Reflection occurs on Mondays, April 6 through June 1 from Noon – 12:05 p.m. in your time zone.
This weekly concept began in the Houston, TX area under the counsel of Pastor Harvey Clemons, of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Houston, and quickly gained interest and collaboration across faith traditions here in Houston and across the country. We will be coordinating Mindful Mondays through June 1 as we gather virtually or pray individually, no matter where we are, to pray and reflect through the COVID19 experience.
The response to COVID-19 has separated us from our usual and common ways of gathering. We are experiencing different levels, yet it is a collective experience, of displacement and isolation, separation and disconnection. Mindful Monday: A Moment of Prayer and Reflection on Mondays from Noon – 12:05 p.m. is an opportunity in each time zone as the day progresses around the world, that we will be connected across space and time.
“One of the values of Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston is, ‘The Strength of Shared Beliefs.’ This is a value that is strengthened by the diverse people that all make up a part of the American experience. We hope many people, praying in different ways, will raise our collective spirits on Mondays across the country and around the world,” said the Rev. Gregory Han, Director, Interfaith Relations and Education, Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston.
Each Monday through June 1, a different prayer and reflection for a particular community affected by the COVID-19 pandemic will be provided.
On Monday, April 6 at Noon the prayer and reflection will be for our medical professionals, their safety and the resources they need. Pray for there to be enough medicine, hospital equipment and physicians and other staff to care for those who are suffering.
The prayer and reflection for Monday, April 6 is offered by Rabbi Steven Gross of the Houston Congregation for Reform Judaism. The prayer is written reflecting that Passover begins Wednesday evening, April 8. Each Monday’s prayer will be offered out of different faith traditions.
