Preparing for the storm before it comes
Each weekday, IM Houston’s Meals on Wheels program delivers meals to homebound seniors in the Greater Houston and Galveston area who struggle to safely prepare a meal for themselves at home.
Imagine what happens to these neighbors when a storm causes a loss of power or flooded roads, making it dangerous or impossible for their deliveries to reach them. To prepare for that possibility, we created Operation IMpact.
During this annual project, we deliver shelf-stable meals and emergency information to Meals on Wheels seniors, some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Your support ensures that our seniors are prepared if deliveries are interrupted by a storm.
In 2026, Operation IMpact delivered shelf-stable meals to more than 3,500 Meals on Wheels seniors.

Why your help matters
Every gift reaches a senior before the storm does
Your support lets us reach more seniors with essential supplies before a storm hits. Each volunteer shift and each donation extends our capacity to deliver shelf-stable meals to the neighbors who are most vulnerable, and it keeps them safe and well during weather that disrupts our routes.
Volunteers wanted
Join a volunteer delivery team
We rally volunteers each year to help seniors across Greater Houston and Galveston County prepare for storm season. Volunteers register as a delivery team.
Only the designated driver of each vehicle needs to register. All drivers must be 18 or older, but younger family members are welcome to ride along. The more volunteers we have, the better.
